Meet the Blacksmith
Young, imaginative, and passionate, Daniel found his artistic expression in traditional blacksmithing as a teen in the Texas Hill Country. Practical and precise, yet with an innate gift of abstract expression. He obsessively forges his unique visions from red-hot steel.
After graduating high school and already self-taught in the craft, Daniel attained a formal education through a noted collegiate blacksmithing program in Austin, placing at the top of his class. Daniel's artwork never ceases to amaze through his creative process.
This creative process starts with a fully-formed image, and then his engineering aptitude calculates the inner structure, metallurgy and necessary components to bring it into being. He concludes the process with strenuous days and hours beating his ideas into hard reality over an anvil, hammer in hand, in a forge-fired workspace.
Working mostly from his primary smithy on his family's property near Blanco, he also maintains a workshop in the Buggy Barn Museum complex, where on Saturdays, he demonstrates the art of blacksmithing, forging items for museum guests.
When not blacksmithing, Daniel works for his family's construction company, where he is in charge of electrical wiring, as well as performing custom carpentry and fine finish work.
